I am so stinking proud of you for being creative with your Halloween Costumes! I know that you were very mad when I told you that I wouldn't be buying costumes this year and that you would need to be creative. But, you came through! You did awesome! You look so great today for your Halloween parade at school! Oh, I love you.
Dear Miss Birdie-
Thank you for being there. Always.
Dear Mo (Maureen)-
Thank you for the random text that made me laugh. It came at the PERFECT time... you have no idea how much I needed that!
Thanks for making apple pie filling and letting me eat it! The house smelled so good and the monsters loved it! Love you.
Dear Joshua D. Christensen-
Thanks for loving me BECAUSE I am not perfect!

Last night was the neighborhood Halloween party. The kids had a lot of fun. Brooklyn WAS dressed up as a cowgirl, until she decided that she just wanted to wear my clothes instead... so what?! Braxton WAS at the party, however I don't have any pictures of him because he was too busy running around with friends. Sweet Jackson did not feel good last night, but he was a trooper... manning the estimation table.

This little man is sick. Ear infection, sinus infection and cough. I picked him up from school Monday. Nana stayed home with him yesterday. He told me he loved that. I secretly love when my boys are sick because they cuddle and snuggle with me. They ask me to sit with them and they want to sleep in my bed. They want me to tickle their faces and rub their backs. I love that!!!!
He did just call me from home... antibiotics not on board for 24 hours quite yet... he BEGGED me to let him walk over to the school right now. He told me he would wear his warm clothes and his face mask... Um.... NO and whose kid are you anyway?!?!?! I used to come up with excuses to be able to NOT go to school!

Jackson: "Really. Really. Really. Mom, this is just craziness all the time!"
Braxton: "I wonder why I never hear you tell me things the first time!"
Kaydon: At 7:00 in the morning, running around the neighborhood... I asked him what the heck he was doing with a water gun running around the neighborhood at 7:00 in the morning, "Mom, DUH! I'm keeping the place safe!"
Colton: "How much MORE water do I add to the washing machine, cuz I already added some, but I don't know how much is enough"
Yep... still on medication!

This past weekend, I drove down to Las Vegas to meet up with Josh and his family. Josh, his dad, his best friend and his brother are all firefighters for Nascar. I was spoiled rotten, as I got to carry around Josh's credentials all weekend. That allowed me to go into the garages, meet the drivers, watch the races from pit row and experience the winner's circle, along with driver's meetings and the heart-breaking five-lap memorial for Dan Wheldon. It was a great weekend. The races were amazing to watch. The sounds, the smells, the sun... it was an awesome experience. Nate, Josh's cousin, was my right-hand man during the races. He and I hung out and watched the races from pit row. We got pictures with cool people, too! I do want to mention that the crash which killed Dan Wheldon was terrible. It was an emotional Sunday afternoon for everyone there. I was honored to be able to walk out onto the track with the dozens of firefighters and stand to pay tribute to a great guy! The bag pipes played Amazing Grace as the drivers went around the track five times in a 3-wide formation. Not a dry eye out there! R.I.P. Dan Wheldon.

Tomorrow, after a meeting, I am getting in my mini-van and going on a solo road trip. Ryan is going to stay with my boys until Sunday night, when I get home and I am going away all by myself. I am going to roll down my windows and play REALLY loud music. I am going to talk to myself, to Heavenly Father and to whatever animals I might come across. I am going to sing really loud. I am going to just be. I am driving to Las Vegas. Josh and his dad and his cousin are down there right now. They are firefighters for NASCAR in Vegas. I am going to sit by the pool by myself while they work. I am going to read. I am going to sleep. I am going to eat. I am going to two races. Can't wait!
I need a solo road trip. I need to be alone for a little bit. I need a break. I am grateful for my past year and a half, where I have been able to notice when I need a break, when I'm at my limit, when I need to have Heidi time. It's time. It's a little overdue.
I'll report back.
