Football. Football. Football.

Oh, it's time for football. It's time for Jackson to play football. He is so excited. I have a rule. Once the kids turn 12, they can choose to play football. He is ready to go. Because this is his first year playing, he is obviously behind the other kids. But, Jackson works so hard. He does everything asked of him. He does it and he doesn't complain. He listens to his coaches and he works to get it right. Of course, it's tough for Josh to just sit and watch the practice. Every now and then he'll yell something out to Jackson. He is very protective of Jackson and wants him to feel comfortable. Last night, the other coaches asked Josh to help out. And, it didn't take much arm twisting to get Josh up and helping!!! That man was born to coach/play/teach football. It's going to be a fun season for us as a family! I'm so proud of Jackson.

Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I used to be such the party girl! I would celebrate everything with my boys. Since I started working full time, it's gone down the drain in a big way! I just don't have the energy anymore. I knew that I needed to do something to celebrate the opening ceremonies of the Olympics on Friday. It wasn't great, but we did have pizza and cupcakes, ice cream and blow horns. The kids even got to color their hair green... only because they didn't have blue or red. I LOVE watching the Olympics, especially the summer Olympics. GO USA!

Safety First!

For about five years, now, I have been BEGGING for a taser! Begging. Like, begging random people for tasers! So what?! Safety first! Well, I have an uncle. He is my favorite uncle. He is also my kids' favorite uncle. He is Uncle Victor. He is pretty much perfect! He is a prison guard head honcho in California. He is all about Safety First! He got me a birthday gift!!! (Picture me singing in my best soprano voice) He got me PEPPER SPRAY! AND it's PINK!!!! (Picture me doing the hokey pokey all by myself in my office right now) I put it on my key chain and I am ready to conquer the world! I dare someone to come up on me! Oh! They are going DOWN!!! (I think Josh might be a little bit worried ;))

Last night was a late night at the ball park. Josh's game started at 9. Jackson opted to stay home and sleep... I think he is at that age (almost 13) where naps are actually cool again, and sleeping is awesome! Anyway, the rest of us headed up to Ogden for the game. Our sweet buddy, Brandon, was there, of course! The kids just love him. He let me get a picture of him. He even posed! Love him!

Adams Canyon Hike

As you may or may not know, I have had three back surgeries. They don't define me, but in many ways, they have defined my ability to do many activities. Yesterday, the boys and I met Josh in Layton. We each had a backpack, full of water and crackers. We set out on quite a hike! I have not gone on a hike since my first back surgery. But, I was determined to do this. We hiked Adams Canyon. It's a beautiful spot, with amazing views of the Great Salt Lake, and the entire valley. We initially hiked to "the small water fall" but then moved on to BIGGER and better and HARDER things! It took us 2 1/2 hours to get to the top, where "the big water fall" is. There were many, many times when I wanted to give up, but I kept going. About one hour into the hike, my right leg completely gave out on me, but I did not want to give up. I made it all the way to the top. I was SO elated that I had done it. And, I was SO proud of my boys who also did it, without complaining. It was an amazing moment to reach the top!

Cowabunga Bay

On Saturday, we loaded up the kids and headed to Cowabunga Bay Water Park in Draper. It was our first time there and the kids had a fun time. The weather was perfect! Not too hot! I usually don't get in the water with everyone because the cold water really bothers my back, but the water was SO warm! I didn't really want to go home!!
