Not So Unfortunate

Just before Halloween, someone asked Burke what plans he and I had for Halloween...
He said, "Nothing."
Facts.
I mean, we planned to hand out candy.
We planned to watch football.
Mostly, we planned to be home with each other and all of our kids and grandkids who would be coming in and out of the house.
Porter and Cooper would be hanging out with their friends, then coming home with said friends.
Ryker would be trick-or-treating with his friends, then coming home.
But, no "big"plans.
The person who asked the question responded to his answer with, "That's unfortunate."

He came home and told me about the short conversation.
He and I don't see it as being "unfortunate."
We are in a season where we have grown, adult kids who live with their little families
We also have four at home - three of whom are still "children" and in school, doing sports, etc.
Our lives consist of working and being with our family.

It is pretty rare that we go on dates, just the two of us.
It is once-a-year that we have a get-away, just the two of us (a work trip).
What we do, we do with and for our kids and grandkids.

I think that's not so unfortunate.
