Doctoring

It's been a few days of doctor appointments for this champ.
Note: doctor appointments of any kind are not fun for Colton.
They're really not fun for any of us, but Colton and his magical ways let us know that it's not fun for him!

Eye doctor was Tuesday.
He rocked it!
Getting our eyes dilated is never the best, so we try to make it fun.

Dentist was yesterday.
And not just the dentist, but a NEW dentist.
I literally prayed on the way there.
He was SO good.

He asked if he could keep the x-ray vest on the entire time.
It helped a ton!
Lisa was amazing with him!

Peanut was there, too.
He was there to get his permanent crown.
Just one problem- it didn't fit right.
All three of us will be back next Wednesday!
Colton will have a filling done and Braxton will hopefully no longer have a hole in his mouth!

Dad's Touching His Base

I got to go spend the afternoon with the Ace yesterday!
Dad is touching his base.
He went for two walks yesterday.
He had a great BM!
He had a sponge bath.
We talked some baseball.
He was able to talk to my kids!
(which was SO good for them)

He is having an important procedure done today.
They will most likely implant a defibrillator.
This will save his life in the case of heart attack, as well as buy time for them to get to a hospital.

Thank you so much for your prayers!!

Baby Loves

Sweet Caroline brought me her grandbaby yesterday at work.
Hadley Mae and I sat and loved and cuddled for a good hour.
It was exactly what my heart and my soul needed.

Come Follow Me - Week of September 27th

Our family's Come Follow Me message for this week is A Place of Holiness.
I love to see the temple.
I really, really do.
I also love the song, "The Spirit of God."
I get excited when I see Hymn #2 up on the little board.
I love singing it!

I have learned so much about that message that Nauvoo comes...
Eventually.
After SO much tribulations.
After SO much heartache.
But, it does come.

I also love my three year olds.

I have been struggling with my dad's health.
It's a trigger, for sure.
I have not wanted to leave my house, or my room.
I was questioning whether to even go to church, when staying in my bed was an option.
Oh, how thankful I am that I went and loved on these kiddos.
I love looking at my phone after Primary and seeing all the magical bits of goodness left there for me!
I love that they grab my face and pull it in close to theirs for pictures.
I love hearing the primary children sing the primary songs.
Oh, my heart sings when I am with them!

Let's make this a great week!
First Living In Your Worth Podcast tonight!

Touch Your Base, Daddy

Dad collapsed at work yesterday.
He actually died.
He was dead.
CPR.
Seven shocks to his heart.
He was alive again.
Unstable.
VF Arrest.
10% of cardiac arrests are VF arrests.
10% of those people live.
Dad is coming in clutch.

I talked to him last night via speaker phone and this morning via FaceTime.
I told him the same things both times:
Daddy, it's the bottom of the ninth.
Two outs.
Bases loaded.
Full count.
Tied game.
You just need a base hit.
Just touch your base.

Heidi Take More Pictures!

Yesterday was this mama's half day.
On my way home, I felt the distinct impression to swing by and see my 19 year old.
He told me about his raise, and promotion to assistant manager - even though he is done in three weeks.
He told me a few other things that I laughed at.
Before he left, he asked me to go to dinner with him.
Oh, I love these kids of mine.

Last night, he took Colton and I to Olive Garden.
I took ZERO freaking pictures.
Heidi!!!!
We laughed.
Talked about things that really only those two understood.
We stuffed our faces with carbs.
Then drove home.
And, that's when I realized I needed pictures!

Heidi,
Take more pictures!

Live In Your Worth - As a Process Addiction Addict

Picture me jumping with JOY.
I am SO excited to begin this journey, you have no idea!
I am beyond thrilled to be helping others who are addicts.
I LOVE addicts.

Join me every day in my Heidicction Blog.
We are going to go through the ABC's of Process Addiction & Recovery every single Monday.
During all other days of the week, we will dive into addiction - the process kind.
I will talk about my personal story, sometimes in graphic detail.
And each Monday, I will give five action items for those willing and ready to dive into their own possible process addictions!

Play Dough, Stickers & Loves

Allow me to talk about these two nuggets for just a moment.
Anson:
Long, wavy, blonde locks of hair that are never anything but wild and wondrous.
Big, expressive blue eyes and a smile that welcomes you into his imagination.
Potty training like a boss.
Happy.
Loves to be loved.
Loves to explore.
Loves water and dogs and Nemo.
Blows the best kisses, says "Have fun!" always, and "Happy Birthday" to everyone whose birthday it isn't.

Asher:
Has a smile that will melt your heart and draw you into his world.
Loves the movies he loves and doesn't love the movies he doesn't love.
Loves to be outside.
Loves water.
Communicates beautifully for a non-communicative love.
Experiences the world with his sense of touch and taste in the most magical way possible.

Asher knew that he wanted to play with the stickers.
He couldn't verbalize that.
He doesn't verbalize anything.
But, he will take your hand.
Make you get up.
Take you to where he needs you to go (the downstairs closet).
Make you pick him up.
Point to the box with the stickers.
Wait for you to figure it out.
And once Auntie gets what he wants, we make our way back up the stairs for some fun!

And by fun, I mean BIG messes!
That's Auntie Time afterall!

Come Follow Me - Week of September 20th

This is our family's Come Follow Me message for the week:
Priesthood

And, it's timely for this mama.
As you know, Braxton and Mia moved out.
Jackson lives in Sandy.
Kaydon has been packing in preparation for leaving on his mission in six weeks.
And, I'm not handling it well.
I am fully aware that I am being triggered by old experiences and it's causing me to feel abandoned and rejected.

Kaydon gave me a Priesthood blessing Saturday night.
I hope Jackson is fully prepared to drive up at a moment's notice to give his mama blessings when Kaydon leaves!

I am immensely grateful for the Priesthood.
And, no... I have no desire to hold the Priesthood.
Heavenly Father knew what He was doing when this power and the keys were bestowed upon men.
My boys NEED the Priesthood.
It is a humbling and calming, emotional, and spiritual blessing for them.
And I receive just as many blessings from it, if not more, as a female.

Living as a single adult in Utah, and as a member of my chosen religion, can be a bit more dramatic as those living single in other situations.
It was never what I wanted.
I always thought of myself as married once and having lots of kids.
The lots of kids came to me just fine!
And I couldn't be more grateful for them.
The marriage part - I haven't quite got the hang of.

Living single requires us to really learn who we are, whose we are, and what our purpose is.
We have to be able to hold our own space, and not have that expectation of someone else.
Living single allows us the ability to love ourselves, to live our purpose, to hold our boundaries, and to bless the lives of those around us.

Movie Star - Ish

Yesterday was one of my favorite days of the year...
My day with my guys.
It was conference time again and the weather did NOT disappoint!

We drove there at the bum crack of dawn..
Actually, even earlier.
I am wide awake in the morning!
Not so much in the afternoon on the drive home.
Mama OUT!

We listened to the speakers;
Heard from Operation Underground representatives (that is HARD stuff);
Ate some breakfast;
Golfed 18 holes;
At lunch whilst golfing;
Headed home.
Asleep.
Fast asleep.

Our view!!!!

I love these three so much.
Mr. Watkins.
Beyta.
Big Larry.
Seriously, I am the luckiest.

Some of my Streets guys looking at their swag...

Sewer & Streets guys eating and talking about hunting...

Storm Water guys...

Can you even believe how beautiful it was?!

His mama...
Not so much.

Dipping & Yellow

I REALLY like dipping things in dark chocolate.
Yesterday, we had left over fruit from the softball lunch.
It got dipped.
Instead of adding my dark chocolate to my protein balls, I melt it down and dip!
These are the easiest protein balls ever, BTW.
Oats.
Almonds.
Natural Peanut Butter.
Honey.
(sometimes I'll add unsweetened coconut, protein powder, chia seeds... whatever I have)

Then I dip that goodness right into dark chocolate!

Also, whilst getting groceries on Saturday there were clearance flowers.
I scooped all of the yellows right up!
