Mama's Back - Mostly

Mama is showered.
Makeup is on.
Earrings are in.
I'm actually at the office.
Mama is pretty much back!

Now Kaydon and Braxton are sick.
Sorry, Guys!
Jackson called today to tell me that he is also not feeling his best - but that would not be my fault!

I worked from home, again, yesterday on my half day.
Then I napped.
Again.
I cannot believe how tired this infection has made my body!
Then, I relaxed and colored.
It would literally all I could muster up the energy to do!

Last evening, a friend and I went and got ice cream.
Then, we happened upon Layton Park and a concert.
We laid out a blanket, ate ice cream, watched the sun set and listened to some beautiful music!

SO good for my soul!

Ice-Filled Pillowcases

I was relatively sure I was dying the past five days, or so.
Friday and Saturday night, I felt I must have allergies or a gross head cold - the kind where you blow so much green snot out of your noggin that you wonder where it's all being stored.

By Sunday morning, I was SICK.
Like, Mama can't stand up to get to the bathroom so I'll just crawl thanks.
Like, I cannot open my eyes.
I am coughing up a lung and have now discovered where all of that green snot is being stored.
I am blowing through the Kleenex like there are bombs shooting from my nose.
My eyes burn.
My chest burns.
Not even Coke Zero sounds good.
Yup, write my obituary.

Braxton filled pillowcases with ice that I laid on and then placed a COLD towel over the other side of my head.
I slept so much I was living in dreamland.

I got myself to Instacare on Monday.
Three hours later, I was Covid negative but have a very bad upper respiratory infection.

The lingo from the professionals was that this is all they are seeing:
Unvaccinated people getting the Delta variant Covid and some that are vaccinated.
Those who are vaccinated have this horrific upper respiratory infection, which is also viral and therefore antibiotics do us no good.
Perfect.

By perfect, I mean this sucks.

I attempted to go to work yesterday due to a lack of staffing.
I was sent home to work from my bed.
Smart.
I am at home, working from the same bed today.
Although, there is light on the horizon!
The fever broke.
There is less green snot being stored in my body.
I am still coughing, but I am at a point where I wonder if I'll be coughing for the rest of my mortal life.

Evening Concerts

Before I got sick AF, I was able to enjoy two evening concerts this past weekend.
Friday and Saturday were spent in Draper, at Draper nights.
Fun fact:
My maternal grandmother grew up in Draper.
The home she grew up in is still there, now owned by the City.
In fact, it is being rented out to City employees...
I haven't been to Draper for years and years.
It was really sentimental to drive by that property.
I'm grateful for the times I was able to spend on that property, picking fruit and spending time with my great aunt and uncle.

We were fed great food each night, and seated in the VIP section.
Government employees have their perks!
Friday night was a tribute to Paul McCartney.
Saturday, Six Mile was our concert and they were AMAZING.
I would pay to see them again!

Both nights, elderly couples sat beside me and I was in Heaven!
I just love old people!
Seriously.
Love them!

Oh, and guess what?!
Iceberg served us shakes both nights.
Heaven!

X-man

I have said this before, but I am the luckiest girl I know to be able to work with the most amazing people!
X-man is like my fifth son, although he's FAR more mature than me!
X is our calmer-downer, our logical one.
He is the most amazing husband to his darling wife, a fantastic doggy daddy, and sincerely an extra-ordinary brother in-law.
He is a trumpet player in a mariachi band.
He is a camper, hiker, and outdoorsy guy.
He is kind-hearted, patient, realistic, and funny.

Tomorrow he turns 30!
Kalynn and I wanted him to feel special...
I think we nailed it!

Morning Walk

This morning, my eyes opened at about 5:15.
I thought about going back to sleep, but I felt a nudge and knew I needed to move my body.
Instead of the gym, though, I went for a walk.
It was about three miles.
I walked by a stream, cow pasture, and wild flowers.
I watched as the sun rose in stages.
I stared at my mountains.

The last part of my walk was my beloved Layton Park trail.
The ducks were just waking up, taking their morning dip in the pond.
The sunflowers were stretching out their blooms and saying good morning to the sun.
I took out my ear pods and listened to the natural sounds all around me...
The stream, the geese, the trees, the cows...

I began to look at the trees.
I mean, REALLY look at the trees.
I'll be talking about those over in my heidicction.blogspot.com today.

For now, though, enjoy my walk through pictures.

Lunch Visitor

This grown adult came and had lunch with me yesterday!
He told me all about work, his anxiety, and funny stories.
Grandma Kay LOVES seeing the boys and was so excited to chat with him for a minute.

Jackson has this incredible gift of talking with people, empathy, and communicating in the most respectful, effective, calm ways.
He did NOT get that from his mom!
Let's be clear:
He got none of that from his mother!!

Even when he has anxiety, he makes everyone feel seen and heard.
I love this "kid" SO much.

I cannot believe I'm going to have a 22 year old next month.
He will always be my Bubba.
I am so honored to be his mama!

A List

I made a list yesterday.
It is a list of my non-compromises - or those things that I am no longer willing to compromise on.
For anyone.
Ever.

I love lists.
Lists like this are SO good for accountability.
Accountability is SO good for recovering addicts!

As I made the list, I thought about my true self vs. false self...
I'm talking about that over in my Heidicction.blogspot.com today.

In regards to relationships of any kind, I am not willing to compromise on:
Alcohol
Pornography
Disrespect
Lack of loyalty of any kind
Lies

What are you unwilling to compromise on?
