Buenas!
Good morning to some and afternoon to others! I've made if to to west! For all
my G's here already serving I'm serving in the Juana Salitopa area! Roads are
mostly dirt, many building are crumbled down and abandoned many people
here are very interested in seeing white people and touching my hair! The
Spanish however is much different, it's definitely gonna take me a rerun
through to get caught up but I know that's made easier as I continue to love
this beautiful children of Our such loving Heavenly Father. My flight here was
pretty easy, imagine the Santo Domingo Airport an abandoned half hospital that
now runs an airplane drive thru. If I had just seen this country for the first
time I would've thought I was in Sudan Tropical style. That gets me pretty
shaken a little but I walk outside with my armor of God and I feel
invincible. Here many of the mission rules are very different, I
have a lot less time to call family and now I'm walking everywhere I go.
(missions with cars, cherish them and thank Heavenly Father for them everyday)
walking however does give me the edge to find much more, and everybody is
willing to let me into their sacred homes. Interesting facts about this place
is that many people just own motorcycles or mopeds and there are several
outlits built into people homes just to make ends meet. There are also so many
families so the biggest issue to get people baptized next to their personal
testimony is getting the man and women married or separated, because although
there are many families those families were not done in marriage. My companion
now is Elder Townsend (Townzsend), he is from Dallas Texas and had a
reassignment in Las Vegas Nevada for 4 months, and has been here for 3 months
and is now a trainer for the next 2 weeks and was made District leader for four
missions in this area when I arrived last Thursday. He's nice, loves to sing
and play instruments, and likes to play basketball as well. The highlight
of my time here so far was 1.) We had a baptism the day after I got to this
area on Saturday for a child named Jasiel (Hasiel) and 2.) We had a Caribbean
wide devotional held here in Santo Domingo west that was broadcasted for the
entire Caribbean. Where Elder Ulises Soares (I don't think I spelled that
correctly) of the quorum of the 12 Apostles. And Elder Nielsen of the
presidency of the 70 speak. I was fortunate enough to attend in person and sit
20 feet from them! I also saw many friends that had been in Puerto Rico and
from home serving in the location, and my Old Mission President, President
Skinner. My companion also sang and played the piano during that devotional in
person like a champ and it was beautiful!
Shout
out to Puerto Rico San Juan mission, I promise to never forget my family I made
there!
