Sunday Snapshot

This Sunday Snapshot looks a LOT different than what the plan was!
These two loves are so sick.
So, Auntie helped their Daddy to care for them yesterday.
Thus, no Sunday Snapshot of Auntie with her own boys.
But, blessed regardless.

Missionary Moment - Mexico City MTC

Buenos dias! I hope everyone is doing well! I've got a lot to say so let's hop into it.
First, I hope that everyone had an amazing Christmas, mine was definitely different than what I'm used to obviously. We had a really good time though and I'm grateful to have had
the experience of having a Christmas in the MTC. We had some really good food, and we beat the devil out of piñatas. I took a piece of the piñata I busted and wore it as a trophy
for the rest of the day. Needless to say I got a decent amount of looks of all kinds and a few sweet words from some hermanas. Later that day we also had the chance to listen to
David A. Bednar talk to us for a Christmas devotional. Super awesome stuff! I took a couple pages of notes from that, so my next talk is going to be stacked with quotes and scriptures.
Other than that, Christmas was alright. It was a new experience for me and I wouldn't take it back for the world.

Second, my compañero and I now have a source from the outside of the MTC that supplies us with 4, 3 liter bottles of Coke and Mountain Dew. In order to get them we have to run a covert-op
mission at 3 in the morning to grab and go. That's pretty difficult when all mexicans are night owls and you have two gringos full on sprinting down the road like a couple of drunk guys trying not to make noise.
BUT we haven't gotten caught yet and we don't plan to because carbonation here is seriously like the fountain of youth in a bottle.

Third thing, and also the last thing, I want to hear what everyone is up to! I need more emails to supply my P day with. I love hearing from you guys and it gives me something to do. Besides that, thank you all for the Christmas wishes.
This week has been a tough one with the language, I'm understanding a lot better but the pronunciation from my mouth seems to get whiter and whiter every time I speak. I miss you all and I hope you are all doing well. The temperature here is still in the high 70s, pretty rough huh (pops). My companion and I are killing the game! I hope to hear from you guys soon! I'll be back on the computer to update and do some personal emails a little later. Stay strong, doubt your doubts, endure to the end. With love!

22 Months & 19 Months

Asher is 22 months old!
He is a cheese ball!
Asher is still so dang busy.
He loves to go through cupboards, sit in the cupboard with the crock pots, put his mouth on everything, and jabber. He doesn't say any words yet.
For Christmas he got a toilet plunger and brush, wooden spoons and a pool noodle.
He loves to watch his favorite movies, eat veggie sticks and crackers and spin around in circles for days.

Anson is 19 months old.
He is a smiley little love bug.
He loves to snuggle and Auntie loves it, too!
He is still a mama's boy, but his separation anxiety has gotten so much better!
He likes to copy his big brother.
Anson doesn't say any words either yet, but he makes lots of noise!
For Christmas he got wooden spoons, measuring cups and a pool noodle.
He was in Heaven!

These babies are LIFE!
Their hugs and loves make the world go around.
I am SO grateful to be their auntie.
They have the best mommy and daddy.
I love these boys so big!

Christmas 2018

Braxton, Kaydon and I worked on Christmas Eve.
When we got off, we headed down to Sandy with Gus.
We had sleepovers at Nana and Pops' house.
We opened our pajamas that night and Nana made her traditional lasagna.
Mama went to bed!

I could barely sleep because I was so anxious for Jackson's call.
He called 45 minutes earlier than he thought he would.
I excitedly went throughout the house, opening doors and waking up cozy sleepers.

We all went to the kitchen table and listened to my boy.
He is sick, with a bad cold.
But, he is so good.
He loves his companion, Elder Millward, who is from Redding, California.
He loves his district.
He told me that they have found a Coca-Cola dealer in Mexico City who brings them four 3-liter Coca-Colas for very little pesos.
He is so proud of himself!
I told him he's like a real-life Narco.
He said, "Mom. I'm pretty sure this guy is associated with Pablo Escobar!!"
I just laughed and laughed!

Brandon, Carrie, Asher and Anson showed up a little before 10 am.
These babies make Christmas so magical!
Asher got a toilet plunger and brush, wooden spoons and a pool noodle.
Anson got wooden spoons, measuring cups and a pool noodle.
They were in HEAVEN!!!

My boys spoiled me.
I got my traditional clock.
I got a beautiful necklace, measuring cups, glasses and measuring spoons. I also got a new shower curtain and shower curtain liner.
I think my favorite gift, though, was the gift Kaydon gave me --

A Little Visit

On Sunday, after church, Braxton quietly drove us to the rest home.
We were all in our church clothes still.
Not really sure why we were pulling up to the rest home.

We went inside, following Braxton.
He asked for Ned Christensen.
She told us where to go.

I know that name from my boys.
Each Sunday, my boys have taken the Sacrament to Ned's home.
They have mowed his lawn for him.
They have gone to visit him, just because.

A couple of weeks ago, before Elder Jorgensen left, Braxton and he went to Ned's.
There was no answer.
They could see his walker.
They could see other things through the windows, but no Ned.
They were worried.

Braxton asked the bishop where he was and the bishop told him that he had been moved to a rest home.
Yesterday, Braxton felt it important that he visit him. That we all visit him.

The last time they saw him, he didn't recognize anyone but Braxton.
He was very lethargic, forgetful.

Yesterday, he recognized Braxton right away.
I came around in front of him and introduced myself as the boys' mom.
He immediately asked about Jackson and his mission.
It was pretty sweet.
I could tell that he loved my boys so much.
He asked them to go visit him more.
He said that he is happy to be safe in the rest home, where he has help.
He said that they bring him the Sacrament each Sunday.
He said that he gets to spend Christmas with his family.
And he asked us to tell Jackson "hello."

As we left, my heart was exploding.
 Literally exploding.
You know, when I was young I dreamed of being a full-time, stay-at-home mama.
I dreamed that we would go visit the lonely in rest homes every week.
I dreamed that we would go do good deeds everyday, me and my kids.
Literally.

I'm not a stay-at-home mama, although I am a full-time mom.
We don't go to the rest home every week.
We don't do all that I had dreamed of.
But these boys of mine do so much more!
I was so impressed that my 17 year old felt a need, and listened to that still small voice.
I was so impressed that my boys drove us to another house after the rest home to serve the Sacrament to another elderly person unable to leave their home.

I am beyond grateful for these boys.
I am beyond honored to be their mama!

Sunday Snapshot

Grandma Tina recommended that we take a Sunday Snapshot each week while Elder Jorgensen is gone.
We missed the first Sunday.
Let's face it -- I was a hot mess express.

But every Monday, I will post our Sunday Snapshot.

Tomorrow morning, I get to talk to my boy!!!!!
Merry Christmas!

Missionary Update - Week One Chile Vina Del Mar Mission

Hola! Como estas! So first I want to say thank you for everyone who writes me and I hope I will still continue to get those awesome letters and emails from you guys. Wow, so much has happened in this past week I don't even know where to start. Well firstly, literally our first day here I was called to be a district leader for my group of about ten guys or so. Elder Millward, my companion, assistant, and best friend here has been so so amazing! We work really well together and are constantly quoting different quotes and disney sayings. I definitely think we'll have a life long relationship as good buds. Second, I'm responsible for different meetings that we have like 5 or 6 times a week, that has been a little stressful. They all have to be in spanish which is not the stressful part, the hard part is trying to be able to choose what to say and who to say it to.
This past week has been definitely the hardest week of my life but also the easiest week of my life. I'm pretty good at spanish at this point and I'm only about a week in which is such a blessing. I sent a christmas letter in the mail just a couple days ago so I hope it comes soon. Apparently mail takes a hot sec to get to Utah from here but it's whatever, hopefully it comes in one piece! Speaking of packages, I can't get packages from Utah but you guys can get on some website and order stuff from our store here in mexico. Super cheap, really good stuff, just sayin. The food here in the comedor, cafeteria, is seriously way good and lunches are always the best. It's their main meal here in mexico. I love you guys and I hope you are all doing well. I'll check back later today for any responses. Hopefully this email is getting to everybody on the list, please please email me, it will keep me occupied on my P-day. I'm going to try and send some pics, hopefully they'll go through. Stay strong, doubt your doubts, endure to the end, I'll talk to you guys soon!
P.S. thank you Kaydon and Braxton for the small video you sent me from Coldstone, love you two, give Colt my love and tell him I miss him. Hopefully you like that picture. I was crying like 5 minutes before that picture, LOL.

Being Brave & Caffeine

T sent me this quote yesterday.
I was having an emotional day.
I feel like most of my days are emotional days!
But, this quote resonates so deeply with me!
It IS brave to feel emotion.
It IS brave to fight for your heart.
It IS brave to show up for each other.
It IS brave to forgive.
It IS brave to start over. (trust me, I'm an expert!)
It IS brave to love. (And, I love deeply and with all I have)
It IS brave to let go.
It IS brave to not fit in.
It IS brave to dream.
It IS BRAVE to be me. And, it is brave to be you.

Don't ever apologize for being you! It lets the entire world down!
In other news, sometimes it takes a little caffeine to be brave enough to start the dang day!
Sometimes, Colton and I stop and get him a bit of coffee on the way to school.
It helps him so much to focus and to calm down before school starts.
This mama does what I need to do to help my children to succeed.
And, let's face it - Diet Coke is my best friend. So, there's that...

Carolers

On Saturday, Colton and Je'Mari came in the house and told me there was a trailer full of kids outside who wanted to sign to us.
Rest assured, there was most definitely a trailer outside FULL of kids.
Like 60 of them.
They call came out, bundled up.
Right up to our door.
The ones in the front were the littlest and they knew all of the words.
They sang Silent Night and it was darling!

They then gave us homemade Christmas cards.
It made my day!!

Last year, in the hospital, one of my hospital mates was a musician.
He has written over 4,000 songs.
Some of them the Tabernacle Choir has sung!
He was hit by a car and has a TBI.
He is in his 70's and remembers nothing... except how to play his guitar and how to sing.
So, I asked one of the occupational therapists if we could do caroling, that I thought it would make Bryan happy.
They agreed.
On a Sunday evening, he set up in the dining room next to the Christmas tree and waited for all of us to gather around him.
We sang and sang and sang.
He smiled and smiled and smiled.
It was the best!

Davis High School Winter Dance

Kaydon was asked by Darling Katie to the Davis High School Winter Dance.
Isn't she a beauty?!
She is on the high school volleyball team.
Once she spike a volleyball into Kaydon's face.
Anywho, she looked so lovely!

On Friday, they did their "day date."
They went to Walmart and bought gifts for a family in need, then delivered them.
I thought that was the most incredible idea of all time.
They then made pizzas and ate!

Saturday, she picked him up at 4:45 pm.
They had dinner at the golf course country club.
A couple of the moms made a delicious dinner.
Then they took pictures.

Kaydon said he had a blast.
There were over 30 couples in their group.
They were the only sophomores.
Kaydon loved it... the whole weekend!

I am so stinking glad that this boy is enjoying high school so much!
He is choosing the best friends there are!
