Auntie & B Date

Yesterday was Auntie + Brynlee date day.
Wednesdays are my short days and I try to fit stuff in...
Mostly, it's been me going to sleep at 3 pm.
Working on that...

Brynlee turns eight this month, so it was her turn to go to lunch with Auntie.
Colton needed his second Covid shot and I needed to get him to work.
Brynlee was all about Cousin Colton going with us!
Phew!

She chose Olive Garden and Colton was more than happy to oblige!
Bread and pasta and salad and laughter was good for my soul!

This girl can talk for daysssss and Colton and I just ate it up!
We dropped Colton off at work and headed to Cold Stone, where Cousin Kaydon made B a yummy ice cream concoction!

Being an auntie is a dream.
I am a much better auntie than I was a mom, most people would tell you.
I think I'm not too bad at either!

Family Pictures

Thank Heavenly Father for Morgan!
She is like these boys' big sister.
She knows them so well and can handle them SO well.
They are goof balls.
Handsome, tall, weird goof balls.
I love them and so does she!

I can't wait to get the pictures from her.
I know she did amazing.
Here are a few from my phone!

Cousin Kaydon

Kaydon went with me on Saturday to watch the babes.
We (the babes and I) would have been SCREWED without him.
I laid in the chair while he fed them, chased them, watched movies with them, chased them some more, changed diapers, tried to keep Asher dressed, discussed the life lessons in Snow White and Cars with Anson, and pretty much everything else.

Asher and Anson are so lucky to have cousins who love them so much.
Kaydon is worried that they might forget about him while he is on his mission.
I don't think that will be possible!!

Stretching

Thursday night, prior to procedure day, my good friend Bret took me for Mexican food.
It just so happened (he actually planned it this way) that there was a concert going on at the same time.
It was all Johnny Cash songs and they made me so happy!
We sat outside on the patio, ate guacamole, and sang to Johnny Cash.
I love Farmington Station!

Friday morning, Kaydon and I headed to the hospital.
Have I mentioned that my kids are freaking amazing??
Surprising to NO ONE, they didn't get the IV in on the first try.
Kaydon turned music on, held my hand and made it pretty clear that getting it in on the second try would be best for everyone.
It worked!

They wheeled me into the operating room.
Told me to have a good nap.
Off I went to dreamland.
When I woke up, Kaydon was getting me to drink Coke Zero through a straw.
I told him I wanted to go home.
So, IV came out and off we went.

They stretched my esophagus 20mm.
There was a little blood in my stomach.. probably from tearing my esophagus whilst trying to swallow food.
So, Kaydon made a follow-up appointment with the doctor for next month.

It's been me in my bed since.
I'm sore.
My stomach is constantly upset.
But, I am not choking anymore!

Kaya Girl

Kaya had a grooming appointment last Saturday.
This is where you could find Gus for the full two hours she was gone.
He did not do well without his sister!
He laid there and waited for her the entire time she was gone!

And, reunited.
He stared at her.
Cleaned her AGAIN after she had already had a paid-for, professional bath.
But, whatever!

Sunday, her boy got home from camping.
Yes, that IS her tongue hanging out of her mouth.

She LOVES her people.
LOVES.
She really is such a blessing in our family...
Even if she does eat my dang pillows!

Procedure Day

Tomorrow is procedure day.
Upper GI Endoscopy with possible throat stretching.
Kill me now.
The hope is that I will stop getting throwing up in the middle of the night.
The hope is also that I will stop having the feeling that food and liquid are stuck between my throat and esophagus.
The hope is that I will be ready to play with the babies on Saturday morning and have family pictures done Saturday afternoon!

PS.
The hospital person, named Randy, said that I can drink Coke Zero up until three hours prior to surgery AND they will have one waiting for me when I wake up.
I am a spoiled-rotton brat.

Colton is 18!

This boy right here is my caboose.
My youngest.
My Boogie.
My #4.
Colton Colton Jorgensen
You are the Boogie and I am your mom
And you eat and sleep and poop a whole lot
Colton, you're number one!

I sang that song to all of my kids... just switching out the names, of course.

Colton has had challenges that most of us will never understand.
Challenges are nothing but a thing for us!
Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and learning disabilities have nothing on his faith, his spirit, his hard work, his diligence, and his drive.
This boy has moved mountains and he will continue to do so, I have no doubt.

I was told he wouldn't graduate high school, that he would continue on in adult high school with help from workforce services.
Not this boy!
This boy will be graduating with a high school diploma next summer.
He is a very hard worker at McDonalds, where he works the front counter and makes the food.

He is joy wrapped in more joy.
Happy birthday, Boogie.
I love you infinitely!
