Kehlani

I am not lying when I say that this little girl has our hearts!
This is one of the outfits GiGi (me) got her for Christmas.
Her beautiful mama sends me pictures randomly and they MAKE MY DAY.

Kehlani is SO smart.
She thinks she is the funniest girl EVER, so of course we all do.
She loves Kaydon!
She loves milk.
She loves playing with her police car.

She is the sweetest little bit of magic and we love her SO big!

Actual Missionary Moment - Puerto Rico San Juan Mission (Aguadillo) / Dominican Republic Santiago West Misison

I got to talk to my boy this morning.
It's literally the best.
How parents lived through their babes being on mission prior to all of this amazing technology is beyond me.
I would not have made it!
He sounds SO good.
He is an island boy at heart, for sure.

Bienvenidas todas! Como esta! I'm super excited to post my email today! First mondays are P days or prep days, here I rest up a bit and prepare myself once more before my week again starts and our work resets and i'm back to work.

This place is paradise, living here on an island is such a blessing, it's really humid and super warm all the time, and apparently it's like the cooler time of the year which is the only thing i look forward to when leaving this place once I get my visa, is not taking on the heat and humidity during the summer time. My flight was just okay, wasn't too bad and stressful and not too fun either. I went straight from my flight to orientation and a lecture for all the new missionaries. Something lame is that I had missed my flight the day I was supposed to leave without receiving the itinerary for the new flight I was supposed to take. But I was blessed and im grateful to come here and be here when I do. That night I stayed with 5 other missionaries and the next morning I drove to the complete opposite side of the island from San Juan, which is the Capital all the way here to an area called Aguadilla. My friends there is so much work to do here, My companion is super proud of our work we've done here, in the time that i got on Thursday his old companionship he averaged about 2 new amigos a day for a week and in the time that i've been here we're up to almost 30. He knows I'm super passionate about the work I'm doing here, i'm not good at Spanish in any way but people I come to talk to and teach know exactly what I'm trying to share and I hope they appreciate that too. I'm really really grateful for this work and the opportunity our Heaven Father gave me to serve here and share my testimony with as many of God's children as I can.

Culture here is honestly kind of funny, imagine if America and Mexico had a baby, that would be Puerto Rico. Their spanish is very different and mumbly, something that i noticed too is that everybody drops their S's so Como Esta? or Esta Bien? becomes como eta? and Eta bien? I love it so much, people here are so cute and kind but they are undoubtedly prideful people, having no desire to change what they have here. which is totally okay, and i'm falling in love with them all everyday.

Something you might all find interesting is 1. Live with one other companionship, Elder Thomas, and Elder Pawlowski. and my Companion Elder Nelson who is 6'4 and 250 lbs. and he has such a kind heart, he has been here for about a year and a half. and it's his first time teaching anyone. so it's a bit of a learning curve for us both. I'm super blessed to have him without a doubt. and the appartment we live in btw is a large area that sits right about a tire shop. turns out roads here are very bad so if you own a tire shop you're sitting pretty well with living here. The next thing is that every Saturday right in front of our home loads of the people from this area host a flea market called a Pulgero which directly translates to flee. There they sell all types of things, mostly junk, but each and every item these people once held close to them and their hearts so it's cool to see what they bring every week. Other items include, fake branding like supreme or oakley, animals like bunnies and birds and other people sell what they grow. And that can be anything honestly.

The last fun fact that I found a little crazy is that like the United States have stray dogs and cats, here there are stray horses, boar pigs, cats, dogs, chickens, and Iguanas. nuts i know.

Well I love you all, my time here is super tight, so I may not end up reading your emails you send this way until next Monday sadly, but that goes to show how much work I do here. No time to waste. But don't let that keep you guys from sending to me! I'd love to here for each of you!!

Con Amor Siempre Siempre Siempre!

Pictures will be sent on another email! :)

Missionary Moment Ish - Puerto Rico San Juan Mission / Dominican Republic Santiago West Mission

I got an email from Bishop Melvin Morales yesterday.
Kaydon is serving in his ward.
It is located in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

He said he is in good health and that he is grateful to have Kaydon with him.

These messages from members are what save us, as parents!!
I can't wait to hear from him!

Thoughts From Ma

1. I plunged the toilet (only one in our house) for a good hour last night with no "headway." Colton came home from work at 11 pm and got it taken care of immediately. My plunging skills appear to be lacking.

2. Braxton and Mia got me a full-length massage mat for Christmas. It has heat and like vibrating massage. I lay on it when I first lay down for the night. It's basically amazing.

3. I now have to wear glasses basically always. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.

4. Sending kids on missions, or anywhere for that matter, is HARD. Hard. It's a beautiful nightmare. I have cried, laughed, cried and then laughed. Anson called Auntie to say, "It's okay Auntie. It's okay."

5. This Gigi role is HEAVEN. This baby girl is joy. She blabbers and blabbers then laughs at herself! We all laugh too because we are just in love with that bit of magic.

6. Marco Polo is a pretty great invention. Becky B and I have daily conversations when it's convenient!

7. Mia wants to see a movie on Christmas. So we will be seeing Spider Man on Christmas night. Late. Like, after my bedtime. Worth it.

8. I learned today that poinsettias are basically drug addicts whilst in the green houses. They die so quick because they are taken off of their constant drip of fertilizer. Who knew?

9. I have been studying Lehi's Dream as I put together a mini course on Validation Addiction. I love the symbolism in that dream. And PS... the path is not strait and it's not narrow. It's windy and it has curves and turns and hills and valleys and speed bumps and dips and it's long. It has forks where we get to decide which path to go down. There are SO many mists of darkness (distractions) and I believe that most of the people in that great and spacious building are people we put there, based on our needs and addictions... So long as we can see that tree, no matter how far away it might seem... so long as we can grab hold of that rod, no matter how many times we let go... so long as we can turn the volume down on those people in that building who have no business even speaking our names, who don't decide our worth... we are going to be okay. Because spoiler alert: We are right where we are supposed to be. Our Heavenly Parents love us. They know us. They speak our names in ways that only They can. Our Savior took care of the messy stuff for us. So, we can actively reach out to His atoning sacrifice when we are reaching and reaching for that rod and can't seem to grasp it. He will make up the difference and bring it to us. That dream is beautiful and it's our real life. It's so simple. It's so simple.

10. I am on a social media cleanse. A fast. It is SO healing. It is freeing. The billboard of comparison is down. In the time I would normally just click on that icon for whatever social media it was for that minute, I am quieting my mind. I learning to balance my emotions better. I am in awareness - Step One. I am listening to my emotions, asking them questions, discovering the physical feelings they bring me, then asserting my agency when it comes to my thoughts - making dang sure they are related to the circumstances and facts and that the narrative my brain might want to tell about them is in line with the circumstances and facts.

He Made It!

He made it to San Juan, Puerto Rico!
They are three hours ahead of us... not too bad!

I can't wait to talk to him!

He's Off - Ish

A huge snowstorm, even by Utah standards, hit last night and this morning.
It took Braxton and Mia about an hour to get to our house.
Colton and I loaded in and headed to the airport.
Note: Braxton is an amazing driver in the snow! Thank goodness!

Jackson and Kaydon were there, in line.
Turns out the itinerary that the Church sent Kaydon was an "empty" itinerary, meaning there was no ticket attached.
Soni, the nicest man ever, was so much help at the Delta window!
He tried everything to figure out what in the heck was happening.
Then, he called the Church Travel Office.
Turns out, the Church changed his ticket to a United flight but never told us.
That flight had left two hours prior.

So, we headed upstairs to United where there was a huge line.
Jim, with United, was able to get Kaydon into the last seat on a flight that leaves TOMORROW morning at 6:15.
I was on the phone with the Church so they can let his mission home know.

At first, Kaydon wanted to just stay at the airport overnight.
But, he can't check his bags in or go through security until 4 am tomorrow.
That means he'd basically be standing against a poll with his unlocked luggage for 22 hours.
Jackson talked him into going back to the house and getting rest, then Jack will take him back at 4 am tomorrow.

Their dad, Braxton, Mia, Colton, and I said our goodbyes today.
Yes, I cried.
Yes, Braxton cried.
Mia cried.
Colton sobbed.

But, that kid is so ready to go!
