The three boys went back to school this morning!
It's such a odd thing to me:
Going back to school in the middle of August;
Going back to school on a Thursday;
Going back to school on a Thursday for only half of the day...
Porter is a Junior.
Cooper is a Freshman (still in junior high).
Ryker is a fifth grader.
Clearly the dogs understood the assignment!
This is our family theme for the school year:
I wrote each of them a note and included a card with this printed on it.
I heard a talk recently.
I wish I could remember who said it.
It was powerful and it stuck with me.
He said something to the effect of:
Anyone can be good.
Anyone can be great.
But I want to be rare.
I want to be RARE.
I told each of them what it means to be rare:
It means to be authentic.
It means to be honest, loyal, diligent, a great teammate (in sports, in school, and in our family).
It means being your best self; being in your true self.
Anyone can be good.
Anyone can be great.
But only you can be you.
And, we all need YOU.
