Come Follow Me - Week of October 11th

Oh, how I love the Doctrine and Covenants lately.
These sections speak SO loudly to my soul.
The saints were persecuted. Hard.
The saints were tried. Hard.
The saints were abused.
Driven out.
They buried their babies, their spouses, their parents and siblings along a trail - without services or even headstones.
They were alone.
And, their prophet was jailed.

Joseph cried out to God...
Like, "Ummm, helllooo?! I'm literally doing YOUR work here and we cannot endure anymore."
That's not actually what he said to God, but that's what I would have said.
I would have questioned everything I was doing!
Like, I must be doing this wrong because it's not quite working out.
But they held tight.
They continued to do what was revealed to them.
And they kept being persecuted and tried and driven out.

And then, Joseph heard:
"Peace be unto they soul."
I love this.
Peace.
Not as the world gives.
Peace.
And, he and the other saints continued to endure.

God doesn't ever say that we won't be tried or afflicted or that He'll take it all away.
He does say that He will give us peace.
And, He does.
