Missionary Moment - Puerto Rico San Juan Mission & Dominican Republic Santiago West Mission

¡Buena a todos! ¿Cómo le va hoy? ¡Espero que ustedes estén muy bien!

Not too much time here, so let 's get right into it!

Starting off, this week wasn't the best. Although it's difficult, the language is of no concern of mine. It's the fact that Satan is working super hard on this mission and all missions. I can see so clearly that he knows exactly why I am here and why I am here. I think I'll be very open and honest about how much my heart breaks when children of our Father in Heaven hear the words by which I testify of truth, then either by fear or other they shut out that joy that is slowly being brought into their lives. I have learned and seen that human beings need to feed on the "Holy Spirit", the same as the need for food and water. We physically need it, it is something that everyone needs but are confused on where to get it. Alternatives include many other things that help us satisfy that hunger for such a low period of time, but it will never really satisfy your soul and settle your heart's constant need to be nourished by that sacred and pure light.

A couple of weeks ago I felt so taken away in a thought that had occurred to me in pieces before, but the setting takes place on an open grassland area where one side (shown as the west) is flattened out going on for miles and miles. The other side (shown in the east) is where the flat land comes up to a hill and I saw a large multitude of people leaving, walking altogether in joy and laughter away from the west side forward on into the east. I saw that I was standing on the edge of the hill where the incline began going down and I was watching and waiting for more people to join me from the large open prairie. I stood there because there was no way I would join the rest of my brothers and sisters until I knew that I could join ALL of my brothers and sisters in the east. I also knew that if I yelled and called out their names no one would hear, so I began to blow a trumpet, a horn that would carry out to all the corners of the land. First I blew with confidence, then slowly I lost more and more hope as no one would appear listening and following the sound of the horn, even though I knew more people were out there and they could hear the glory of the trumpet.  After a while, I began to be so discouraged and sad that I wept. It was then that I could fully understand that our Loving Heavenly Father will never ask us to give back the best gift he gave to all which is the ability to choose for ourselves. I know that many won't join us in the east because some simply won't follow the glorious sound of the trumpet, they will hear it but it's up to them to follow it. This breaks my heart. If it were up to me I'll drag them if I have to, do anything from leaving them without the fullness of the joy of this Gospel. But if I did that I would no longer be willing to respect that great gift that was given to all, the way He respects that gift for all.

Working everyday as a missionary is super thrilling and hard, but understanding and respecting the decisions of others is what we can best work off of. I love them all so much and I love you all so much.

Transfer are this week, president kept me and my companion here in aguadilla and added 3 new areas to...I think the area is called Mayagues?...but it just goes to show that the Lord knows that work is needed here, we now have as much areas and missionaries matched with the Capital of the Island, San Juan. There is so much work to do and it's actually really cool to go out and work to try and gather Israel as best we can every hour of the days we're given. 2 years is nowhere near where I need to get this work done. We're super excited to get new missionaries, they are so needed here! I know that this place is in good hands once I go up to the Dominican Republic which I still haven't heard anything about but my president is confident that I'll go once I have my visa. And I trust him. What's interesting is that we lived in a zone leader home (as zone leaders) with 4 of us missionaries. We however just lost number one who came here a day before I arrived, before going to his first assignment in the Dominican Republic East mission, to serve the rest of his time. Even though he's not technically in my mission I sure hope he baptizes too many people while I'm here, hoping that he saves some for the rest of us. He is a great missionary, and will do awesome! After the tough week we had such a beautiful ward baptism that we've been working on for awhile but Lillian finally got baptized! So that's great news.

That's all the time I have for now, but I love and miss you all tons!

Elder Jorgy

Not too many pictures taken this week :( Loads more next week! Including baptismal pictures!!

Proposal

Braxton and Mia attended the Chiefs at Broncos game on Saturday.
They face-timed me so that I could participate in the National Anthem and the kickoff.
The reception was poor and I was at the gym, but it was still cool.
Braxton was SO stoked to be there.

On the Chiefs last touchdown of the game, this happened:

We are happy for Braxton and Mia and their upcoming adventures.
Although a wedding isn't in the plans for a long while, he put a ring on it!

Brotherhood

Gosh, I'm blessed.
These boys, though.
There is something about this brotherhood that is sacred.
I mean, really sacred.

They have been through all of life's challenges - highs and lows - together so far.
They know each other.
They love each other.
They each have different strengths and different weaknesses.
What one lacks, the other three pick up on.
It has always been this way.

Colton is struggling not having Brothers around.
It's all he's ever known.
Mama is cool, but I'm not Brothers.

Yesterday, he needed his brothers.
And they were there.

Ten Years!

First of all, I remember thinking 44 years old was OLD... even just 10 years ago!

This side by side is SO telling.
The girl on the left.
Oh, how I wish I was better to her.
She was tired.
Single mama.
Months removed from being admitted to the psych ward for an eating disorder (weighing 103 pounds) and not wanting to live anymore.
Just weeks away from a hysterectomy.
Just months away from a cardiac ablation.
Just five years away from a stroke.
Lots more surgeries for the boys.
Willingly going into toxic relationships to get my fixes (process addiction).
This girl felt (and really believed) that I was unworthy of love, completely unlovable, not good enough for anyone or anything, exhausted, spiritually and physically and emotionally drained...

The girl on the right.
Oh, how I am so thankful that I didn't end my life back then.
She is still tired.
Still single momming it.
No longer willing to go into toxic relationships.
19 months into active recovery for my process addiction.
Aware of my infinite worth.
Aware that I am valued and lovable.
Aware that I am a daughter of Heavenly Parents who love me.
Healthy.
Aware.
Believing in my Savior and having faith in The Plan.
Aware of my past, living in the present.
Passionate about helping others.
Implementing and sticking to boundaries.

I am grateful for my present.
A mom of the most amazing men.
An auntie to the most darling of kiddos.
A gigi to the most perfect little Kehlani.

I can't wait to see my next ten years!

Missionary Moment - Puerto Rico San Juan Mission & Dominican Republic Santiago West Mission

Como le va todos?! How are you all?? I'm super grateful for all of your emails, so please please keep them coming!

Starting off this week has for sure had some ups and downs. Me and my companion were able to put another soul on date and I'm getting so excited to see him progress. Everyday is a grind from the time we wake up to when we need to be in bed by 10:30.

There are so many people with so much complexity that I've been called with my companion to bring comfort to, it's amazing to see the Gospel and the Holy Ghost bless them but It can be taxes on us mentally, physically, spiritually. And I can testify to you all now that it's been for my good, I know that everyday I compete my efforts my testimony grows and is strengthened to then go and do the Lord's work again the next day.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I can't belive it's already 2022, I don't know why but I never really saw that coming! People celebrate like crazies here in Puerto Rico, basically from October to February is there time to come out and celebrate anything they can, Christmas and New Years were pretty crazy on there own shown through tons of fire works ( or bullets ) honestly you can never really tell, but here in a couple days they celebrate 3 kings day which really just celebrate the Wiseman that came to Jesus. I'm actually very hyped to see what they come up with then because this this there biggest holiday and you would think they lit all kf the fireworks already!

Transfers and coming up here in about a week and me and my companion are working super hard everyday to bring more and more unto Christ, many of them are ready and some are not, but that's okay, I would rather they came to partake whether than came and saw. Speaking of Transfers I had my first exchange with Elder Hawkins who has been out for around 5 months and he has such a sacred testimony and is really good at basketball! Figures cause he's 6'10". I swear Heavenly Father puts me with people only to make me feel tiny hahaha! I'm just kidding, I was super grateful to have had that opportunity to teach and share the Gospel with him. Being his first transfer as well we absolutely crushed it!

However,  it was nice to be with another missionary I was so grateful to get back with Elder Nelson, when we talk and teach together I feel completely unstoppable,  he says that we'll stay together for the transfer but I'm not too sure what to expect.  Expectations are such a waist of time, it's nice to have goals but lame for Expectations.

Finally, me and Elder Nelson were called to a man that lost his wife about 4 days ago and has a son who has autism continually ask when his mother is coming home. This was very hard for me to try and give his family comfort. But I tell you all this to ask that you all pray for this family. The scripture Mathew 4:4 "But he answered and said, Itis written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." I don't think this prayer pertains to being tempted alone, but also that no one in life should do it all alone, with the companionship of the Holy Ghost and families at our helm is the best form of unity there is.

I love you all so very much and am so grateful for each kf your prayers that i know of and feel every hour of my time out here. I don't have word yet on the DR but my president thinks that I'll be leaving in a few transfers and I've definitely learned to trust both him and my companion.

By the way those pictures are real :)

Passionate Talks

I have been preparing two talks that I will be giving this month.
Both of them are going to be done in front of youth.
I am PASSIONATE about sharing my knowledge and experiences with people of all ages, but especially the youth.
I didn't love the Young Women's program.
I had moments when I liked it.
I had moments when I felt the Spirit and felt my testimony take turns and dips and climbs.
But, I didn't love it.
It was just one more place (six years worth) where I felt rejected, not valued, and invalidated.
In full disclosure, I had no idea who I was until I was 42.
I was a chameleon.
I was whoever I thought people wanted me to be.
That must have made it near impossible to connect with me.

I am passionate about helping the youth to KNOW that they are actual daughters of Heavenly Parents.
That isn't just something we say each week.
It isn't just something that is on posters in our house.
It is real.
I am passionate that they know they are loved by me, and safe with me.
I am passionate about them knowing that they are holy as they are.
I am passionate about them knowing that they were born for a time such as this.

I am fiercely passionate about sharing with them what I KNOW.
I am deeply grateful for my active recovery that allows me to have this passion.

Funny story:
Public speaking is quite literally the only thing I don't fear.
I can talk for days about my passion.

It's A New Year & Stuff

I was listening to some Matthew McConaughey speeches over the weekend.
That guy is SUCH a good speaker.
He was talking about our blueprints and the importance of not allowing any distractions into our lives that deviate from that blueprint.
I decided that this year, I am going to have a personal blueprint for the year, and individual blueprints for each month.
This year's blueprint for this mama is:

I have loved this quote since I saw the movie years ago.
I love it. Love it.
Love it.

My January blueprint is on my white board in my office.
It has five categories:
Physical, Spiritual, Family, Process Addiction Coaching & Farmasi.
Let's just say I'm going to be shining like a diamond this year!

In other news, T got me an air fryer for Christmas.
I haven't used anything else since.
Literally.
This thing is amazing!
Colton used it for the first time last night.
He LOVES it!

In other, other news:
One of my sister friends (the kind that God knew I would need on my life journey) sent me a sum of money.
I told her I couldn't accept it or pay it back.
She had a conversation with me that only she could have had with me.
I went and got new tires put on the car with it, and am getting the car fully serviced with the rest.
This was yet another reminder that God knows us.
He sees everything.
He hears everything.
He never leaves us alone.

In other, other, other news:
I came home to this after getting new tires.
Kaya is literally going to be the death of me.
I cried.
I yelled.
I spanked her.
Then I ordered a new curtain rod so I can fix this mess.
