Missionary Moment - Puerto Rico San Juan Mission and Dominican Republic Santo Domingo West Mission

Some of my days this week reminded me of those butterflies we get in that precise moment before getting on a large roller coaster for the very first time ever.

With a lot less nudity and a lot more trust and communication with my companion, Elder Townsend, my week has improved through the sufficient grace of God our Father in Heaven and the perfect love and example of Jesus Christ.

This week I had 2 exchanges, one with our zone leader, Elder Loveland, and another with Elder Taggart. These were very much needed one for me and the other I know was a much needed practice and benefit for the other missionary.  Theres not much of reason for it but I always end up dreading exchanges, but I get put in doing one and I always end up appreciating the time with other Elders and given the time to learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Because as I have loved being taught in Puerto Rico, exchanges are not sleepovers.

During the first exchange our morning exercise was interrupted half way through due to a house filled with maggots bc we had a missionary not throw away his trash since I arrived, so we had a long talk about that with him, I hope he learned that lesson.

And my second exchange with Elder Taggart, I was honestly dreading this one,  we didn't get along too well and I knew that he had reason big issues in his training ( that's why trainings is the single most important thing that can happen to a missionary) but our day was filled so many miracles and many goals that him and I set for him and his companion, there are many issues that has been a little hard between the two but I know that sufficiency of God's grace with bring them closer than they have been. But two look at our success we set our goal to find 12 new friends for the week, (they needed to work on finding) and I had him practice on as many people as he could, and with sacred and beautiful effort he covered that goal even with all our lessons (12) (2 of those fell through) and left our area with 24 new friends.  He is a great missionary.

This week we also had zone conference which is always pretty amazing, it was a little tough because all of it was in spanish but I took more from it than I expected. Something that stood put to me was the pressing care we should take in preparing for hurricanes. All I know is that if anyone is in the service of the Lord we are completely entitled to his help and all that Is said by our leaders is divinely guided.

It's been a super busy week and I'm so grateful it's P-day and I can relax a bit and rest, but through all that has happened I have seen with my very eyes divinely appointed guidance from divinely appointed sources.

There are 2 stories of this grace that I'd like to share. Both were on exchanges, both were amazing.

1.) With Elder Loveland, we had found a daughter out in the middle of nowhere and found her family as well and we then had one last cita for the night with a really sweet kid named Gil (Heel) who is just like my brother Braxton if any of you know him, the kid has the the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met and shows his love for all those that come into his presence while also being the type of person that will be there for you before anyone else in the whole world. But I was really scared that cita would fall through because I  didn't have his number nor the number for either of the members that were coming with, nor directions for any of them. With all of that "nor" I was really really scared. So I kinda just decided that we'd walk back 30 minutes to the chapel to decide what to do next hoping something would turn up, and when we got back go the Chapel our Ward mission leader was standing by himself dressed as a missionary and he knew exactly where the other members lived who was the member that knew where Gil lived. And we had such an amazing cita with him! Not to mention I was on the exchange with a zone leader!

2.) This happened with Elder Taggart,  we had a yellow dot sitting in our progress record left by the past elders (I was dropped in a white wash adea) and so we were thinking about dropping it because only progressing green dots go on the progress record, anx we also had no way of contacting her. However we found a friend of hers who was maybe 14 and he took us to her house in the rain and we found that yellow dot, she is a 8 year old girl with 3 other siblings, Mother and Father, and Abuelo and Abuela, living with them. (Amazing!)

I think I better cut it there. God's grace is sufficient,  Our Savior Jesus Christ preforms miracles today, and He will preform miracles tomorrow.  He lives and Loves each of you so much. We may not deserve it all the time, but if we look to Him for those blessings, He will provide.

I love each of you. I am receiving each and every email. You are all so amazing and special. Thank you for your examples in these last days, your strength and testimony with a firm foundation in our Savior Jesus Christ will bless nations.  Until next week!

Elder Jorgensen
