I'm
really hoping this is a funny one! I for sure think it is!
Before
we get into our laughs, how are you all? Really. How are you? Take a sec, think
and reflect. In that second of thought think also about how much I pray for
each of you, and love you.
Now!!
Just a little background about la República Dominicana, people here talk very
differently, not so much in a good way either. People don't really open
their mouths to talk, many people are missing several teeth and can't
pronunciate very well or at all, but what gets me every time is just doing
random things to words or phrases that don't make any sense whatsoever but no
matter how they speak it, anybody who's been in the country for about a week
will completely understand what they're trying to say. Examples include:
Hola"s", "Buenas", Saludo"s", and my personal
favorite "y usted"! For all my English speakers the phrase "y
usted" means "and you" but its really only correct when someone
else first asks how you are. However here, the natives use it as a greeting!
Just imagine someone walking up to you and saying "and you", before I
would say anything at all, they just say "and you?", that gets me
everytime!!
As
far as the actually missionary work we're doing, it's pretty smoking hot, with
a little over 80 friends, 10 of which have excepted opportunities to be
baptized. And each of them have been visited, taught, and still progressing
within this last week alone.
It
is so unbelievably crazy still how much this work is moving up and how
"The work will be furthered in His time". This is the complete result
of the power and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the testifying power of the
Holy Ghost, with Heavenly Father pleading to all to come home.
Transfers
were yesterday! President felt, through much prayer and analysis, that I stay
in the area. Honestly I'm very relived for that, I'm not ready to train or go
off to another comp yet!
My
efforts this week will continue to make sure all of our friends and more will
be coming unto Christ but more specifically I'll be working more with members
to see how the Susan Fulcher case study is about to be taken into action, and
even more specifically than that, we had stake conference where a member took
along with him over 30, 13-18 year old girls of his volleyball team there to
meet a general authority and write down anything that stood out to them, and
none of them are members...so...we're coming in like wolves to reap that giant
flock of sheep to come unto Christ and soon their examples will be exposed to
their families, and theirs to others!
Missionary
work is the best isn't it?
I
hope when you all see the work of the lord move closer and closer to all
receiving the knowledge of His gospel, that you also find comfort in His
coming. I promise all of you, that He is coming, this has been one of my
biggest comment to all members and even some of our friends. And guess what?
When he does come, everything will be okay, peace will come and fill your soul.
if
you do your best to come unto Him and follow his commandments placed to bless
your lives, that promise will be given.
Love
you all so so so much!!!

Jorgensen
